About Working With Vivian
How much does it cost to work with VS Healthcare Solutions?
Nothing. Insurance carriers pay licensed agents a small commission baked into every plan’s premium — so the price you pay for coverage is the same whether you enroll directly with the carrier or through Vivian. The difference: you get a real human who knows your situation and answers when you call.
What states do you serve?
Vivian primarily serves Florida (her home state, all 67 counties) and is also licensed in additional states for select clients. Mention your state on the first call — she will confirm whether she can help directly or refer you to a trusted partner agent.
Are you a captive agent or independent?
Independent. Vivian is appointed with 12+ top-rated carriers including Florida Blue, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Aetna, Humana, Wellcare, Allstate Health Solutions, Mutual of Omaha, and more — and she recommends what fits your needs, not what pays the highest commission.
How fast can I get coverage?
For ACA Marketplace coverage during Open Enrollment or a Special Enrollment Period, plans typically start the 1st of the following month. Medicare enrollment timing depends on your election period. Many supplemental and dental plans can start within days. Vivian confirms an exact effective date during your enrollment call.

Health Insurance & ACA
Do I qualify for premium tax credits (subsidies)?
Most American households qualify. Through 2025, enhanced ACA subsidies cap premium contributions at 8.5% of household income (and at $0 for income below 150% of the federal poverty level). Vivian runs the exact calculation for your household during the call — you’ll know the real monthly cost in 5 minutes.
What is a Cost-Sharing Reduction (CSR) Silver plan?
If your income falls between 100% and 250% of the federal poverty level, you qualify for an enhanced “Silver CSR” plan with dramatically lower deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums — sometimes saving thousands per year. They’re only available on Silver-tier ACA plans.
I missed Open Enrollment. What now?
You may still qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP). Common triggers: loss of other coverage, marriage, divorce, baby, adoption, move, income change. You have 60 days from the qualifying event. Vivian confirms eligibility on the first call.
Will my doctor and prescriptions be covered?
Vivian verifies your specific doctors are in-network and your prescriptions are on the plan’s formulary BEFORE you enroll. This is the #1 thing people get wrong when enrolling on their own.
Medicare
When can I enroll in Medicare?
Most people first become eligible during their Initial Enrollment Period (3 months before your 65th birthday + your birth month + 3 months after). Annual Enrollment Period is October 15 – December 7 each year for changes. Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment runs January 1 – March 31. Special Enrollment Periods exist for various life events.
Original Medicare or Medicare Advantage — which is better?
It depends on your doctors, your medications, your travel patterns, and how much risk you can absorb. Original Medicare + a Medigap supplement gives nationwide flexibility but higher monthly cost. Medicare Advantage gives lower monthly cost (often $0 premium) but limits you to a network. Vivian compares the total annual cost for YOUR situation.
How much is Medicare Part B in 2026?
The standard Part B premium for 2026 is $174.70/month (most beneficiaries). Higher earners pay an Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA) on top. Late-enrollment penalties also apply if you delay without creditable coverage.
Do I need a Part D drug plan?
If you don’t have creditable drug coverage from another source (employer, VA, etc.), yes — or you’ll pay a permanent late-enrollment penalty when you do sign up. Vivian helps you find the cheapest Part D plan that covers your specific medications.
Life, Dental, Business & Supplemental
Term life or whole life — which should I buy?
Most working families need term life first (10-, 20-, or 30-year coverage at the lowest cost) because the goal is income replacement during the years dependents need it. Whole life and IUL are more useful for legacy / estate planning and tax-advantaged cash value. Vivian doesn’t push permanent products unless they fit a specific need.
Do dental plans really save money?
For routine cleanings + occasional fillings, a basic dental plan typically pays for itself within 6–12 months. For major work (crowns, root canals, dentures), you need a Mid or Premium plan and need to plan for waiting periods. Vivian breaks down the math for your situation.
What is ICHRA and why are small businesses using it?
An Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement lets a small employer reimburse employees tax-free for individual health insurance plans they pick themselves — instead of choosing one group plan for everyone. It’s great for businesses with diverse needs across employees, and Florida is one of the highest-adoption states.
Do I really need supplemental insurance?
Not always. But if your ACA or Medicare Advantage plan has a high deductible (say, $5,000+), accident or hospital indemnity coverage can pay you cash directly when you’re hospitalized — bridging the gap before your major-medical kicks in. Critical illness and cancer policies do the same for diagnoses.
